Priority Mail Express
You can use Priority Mail Express for a variety of packages such as letters, large or thick envelopes, and tubes. For an additional fee, delivery is available for Sunday, holiday, and an early in the day delivery to many destinations. Select Priority Mail Express packaging is available at the Post Office for free. You must use boxes and envelopes marked Priority Mail Express for Express service, you can’t use it for another USPS service like first class shipping. Letters, large or thick envelopes, tubes, and packages containing mailable items can be sent using Priority Mail and delivery is within 1 to 3 days. There is select Priority Mail packaging available at the Post Offices. If packaging is labeled with Priority Mail it must be shipped Priority Mail and not another USPS service like Priority Mail Express. You can order all Priority Mail packaging at www.usps.com/store.
Cubic Shipping is not available as a USPS retail option. It’s only available to extremely large volume shippers but we level the playing field and offer it to anyone. You can use First-Class Mail for Postcards, letters, large envelopes, and small packages. This popular service is typically used for personal and business correspondence and bills.
First-Class Package Service
Certain packages (weighing under 1 lb) can be sent using First-Class Package service. This service is typically used for personal shipping and for small lightweight packages.
Heavy small and large packages, thick envelopes, and tubes containing gifts and merchandise can be sent domestically by using USPS Ground. Packages have a maximum weight of 70 lbs. Typical packages shipped through Ground are packages weighing between 20 and 70 lbs.
For qualifying materials- small and large packages and thick envelopes can be sent domestically using Media Mail. Qualifying contents are limited to books, manuscripts, sound recordings, printed music and certain other educational materials. Media Mail cannot contain advertising, except eligible books that contain incidental announcements.
Flat Rate packaging is available in many convenient sizes for Priority Mail & Priority Mail Express, and can be used for domestic and international mailings. Flat Rate shipping lets you send your items for a low Flat Rate price no matter the weight (Max is 70 lbs).
